ECO RANGERS: ALAM FLORA’S SPECIAL AGENT FOR 3R PROGRAMME
Putrajaya, 17 January 2015 – Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora) is currently underway to plan a special
programme on encouraging 3R Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in areas where Alam Flora
operates in its efforts and to realize the government's target to achieve 20 %
recycling rate by 2020.
Commenting on
this efforts, Chief Executive Alam Flora, Mohd Zain Hassan said, the solid
waste management company had taken a proactive step to create a squad of agents
called Alam Flora Eco Rangers. The
main task of this special agents is to help educate and bring awareness and
information to the public at large the importance of recycling through
activities by using roving methods; patrolling from one area to another.
"Roving
is an increasingly popular method in this country, where information that to be
conveyed to the public can be implemented in a way of face to face a more concise,
simple and fast and to precise target groups," said Mohd Zain Hassan.
According to
Mohd Zain, the existence of Alam Flora Rangers is linked timely, where this
method will be used to disseminate information widely about separating waste at
the very source that will be mandatory for public to practice and carried out
in stages, starting September 2015.
The special
vehicles Eco Rangers comprising of Alam
Flora’s staff will stop at 4 to 5 key public locations such as the playgrounds,
market or recreation centres for 30 to 45 minutes at a time. The Eco Rangers agents
will conduct talk and distributing leaflets related to 3R. In addition, prizes
will also available through 3R Pop Quiz and freebies will be distributed by the
agents.
Mohd Zain
added, the Eco Rangers patrols will
begin in and around Putrajaya and Alam Flora will monitor its effectiveness
before expanding it to the other areas other in its concession such as Kuala
Lumpur and Pahang.
Mohd Zain added
that recycling campaign should be continued from time to time to raise
awareness and instil a culture of recycling in everyday life.
